CELESTIAL PICTURES EXPRESSES DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MEDIA MOGUL SIR RUN RUN SHAW
 
 

[9 January 2014 - Hong Kong] Celestial Pictures expresses our deepest condolences on the passing of Sir Run Run Shaw.  Sir Run Run Shaw founded his film empire in 1958 which popularized martial arts films globally. 

For half a decade, Sir Run Run Shaw nurtured some of the legendary filmmakers and acting talents in Asia and produced a variety of films for Chinese film lovers worldwide with genre ranging from operas to traditional martial arts (“Wuxia” as it is known today),as well as musicals and dramas.The Shaw Brothers library has the world’s largest collection of Chinese-language films with notable classics including THE FIVE DEADLY VENOMS, THE AVENGING EAGLE, COME DRINK WITH ME, HEX, THE 36TH CHAMBER OF SHAOLIN, ONE-ARMED SWORDSMAN, THE FLYING GUILLOTINE, GOLDEN SWALLOW, FIVE SHAOLIN MASTERS and KING BOXER (also known as FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH). In 2001, Celestial Pictures acquired the Shaw Brothers library which houses 760 well-known and award-winning feature films.
