Synopsis

The Trail Of The Broken Bladesets the table for legendary director Chang Cheh and Jimmy Wang Yu for their timeless classic One-Armed Swordsman. Jimmy Wang Yu heads an authentic "who's who" of the golden age of Shaw Brothers swordplay films as Chang Cheh's direction stabs the soul with tear-jerking psychosis of lost love, loyalty and doomed heroes. Li Yueh (Jimmy Wang Yu) loves Liu Cheng-erh, but is in hiding. While Li searches for him, heroic swordsman Fang falls for her but knows her heart belongs to Li. He says nothing. This is Chang Cheh's sword hero tragedy where in the final fight Li and Fang both try to die amid heroic sacrifice guessing that each loves Liu. It's really Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, done 34 years ago with action relying less on special effects and editing.
