Synopsis

The entire Shaw's script-writing section created this quintessential swordplay epic of the "Martial Arts World". It was entrusted it to neophyte director Li Pai-ling, who used no fewer than three cinematographers and four martial arts directors (not to mention a separate action director) to realize their vision. The thrilling story of a malicious swordsman lying, cheating, and stealing to get to the top, and the noble man who finally defeats him, is filled with impressive action and fascinating characters. As befitting the title, the cast, too, was supreme - led by two of Shaws top swordsmen: Derek Yee and Pai Piao. But there was also a living corpse played by Chang Cheh film veteran Wang Li and three martial arts masters led by Li Hai-shen (famous as the twin sword monk in The 36^th Chamber Of Shaolin).
