Soul Of The Sword is the classic lone swordsman tale revealing the terrorism of tradition and submitting to these virtues is not only necessary to be who you are, but it's also tragic causing one to lose what you are. Ti Lung plays "The Anonymous" to perfection as his quest in live is to defeat the "Number One Swordsman", who as a child, he saw “Number One Swordsman” slay a couple and he is compelled to avenge their deaths and to do so he must become Number One. The expertly engineered fights illuminates Ti Lung's dark character. The film is a treatise on the old adages, "Be careful what you wish for" and "sometimes wanting is better than having". But wishing or wanting to see this film is an adage all film fans will be happy to live with.
